GI Bill Changes Take Effect October 1October 1st brought changes to the Post-9/11 GI Bill that add flexibility and some new benefits. You may qualify for:
Payment rates increase to as much as $1,473 per month Housing stipend for online-only students Up to $1,000 book stipend for eligible students Support for on-the-job apprenticeship programs Up to $10,000 for flight training programs

Find SchoolsNon-college degree (NCD) programs: Non-college degree (NCD) programs offered at non-degree granting schools. Pays the actual net costs for in-state tuition and fees or $17,500, whichever is less. Also pays up to $83 per month for books and supplies On-the-job and apprenticeship training: Pays a monthly benefit amount prorated based on time in program and up to $83 per month for books and supplies Flight programs: Per academic year, pays the actual net costs for in-state tuition and fees assessed by the school or $10,000, whichever is less Correspondence training: Per academic year, pays the actual net costs for in-state tuition and fees assessed by the school or $8,500, whichever is less Housing allowance for distance learning: Payable to students (other than those on active duty) enrolled solely in distance learning. The housing allowance payable is equal to ½ the national average BAH for an E-5 with dependents. The full-time rate for an individual eligible at the 100% eligibility tier would be $673.50 for 2011 Active duty stipend: Students on active duty will now receive a books and supplies stipend. Gumersindo, along with other Vietnam Veterans from Boston founded the Puerto Rican Veterans Association of Massachusetts Inc. on July 1st, 1987 in which today is formally known as Bilingual Veterans Outreach Centers of Massachusetts, Inc.

VA Releases HUD-VASH HandbookVA Releases HUD-VASH Handbook
The Department of Veterans Affairs (VA) has released a handbook on the VA portion of procedures for the Housing and Urban Development (HUD)-Veterans Affairs Supportive Housing (VASH) Program. The handbook sets forth the national authority for the administration, monitoring, and oversight of HUD-VASH services. This new handbook clarifies the admission process and procedure for homeless veterans into the HUD-VASH Program and the duties of those assigned responsibilities under the program. The handbook also addresses staffing changes associated with implementing and monitoring HUD-VASH-funded programs nationally and addressing program enhancements as a result of recent program expansion. GI Bill pays a housing stipendEffective October 1, 2011, the Post-9/11 GI Bill pays a housing stipend to students enrolled solely in online classes. The stipend is half the national average of BAH for an E 5 with dependents $673.50 per month for 2011.
